“Happy Endings” is a short story by Margaret Atwood first published in 1983, and had never been visually translated. It is a short story in six parts, and Atwood begins by introducing the two main characters, John and Mary. Each story has different versions of these characters—labeled A through F.” Atwood begins by introducing the two main characters, John and Mary, and then offers six different versions—labeled A through F—of who they are and what might happen to them. To convey this thought-provoking short story, I used a combination of grungy ironic collage with elegant typography and literary dingbats. Each story has an opening spread and a closing illustration to convey each ending.
